2006: The Winner

Who could have predicted this? When Finland announced they were sending a "monster rock" band, it felt like another gimmick in a year filled with them. What we couldn't imagine is that they'd win both nights with their perfect radio friendly hard rock tune. "Hard Rock Hallelujah" had everything it took to give Finland their first win.
Lordi are a seasoned band, so it's no surprise they could put on such an electric show. Even with a rock song their performance was pure Eurovision. Ridiculous costumes, fireworks and a demon come to life during the bridge of the song, they had everything to make a winner. It may not have been my favorite song that year, but it was, for sure, the obvious winner. In fact, the song received the highest amount of points in Eurovision history!
