SOPHO WITH "VISIONARY DREAM" FOR GEORGIA

Georgia was entering the Eurovision song contest for the first time, and I'd definitely never heard any music from the small nation in the Caucasus Mountains. This was the perfect introduction, with a smooth electronic production mixed with ethnic Georgian instruments, this song was on a completely different par than the rest.

This may be one of my favorite songs from the contest yet. It recalls the modern production of a Frou Frou song while also containing enough Georgian flair to give the song it's own character. Sopho's vocals and the tempo changes aren't unlike those heard in more indie songs. Because of this "Visionary Dream" was the first song I discovered from the contest that almost felt too good for Eurovision.
