Sometimes the weirdest and the best songs are interchangeable. When that's the case, I lean towards putting the song in the weird category. "Grandma plays the drum" isn't really that weird, but it's so different for Eurovision that it just really stands out. A ska-punk song with rap elements performed in English and Romanian is certainly different from the usual schlager pop the contest is known for!

Both nights the guys of Zdob și Zdub brought tons of energy to the stage but they were out-shadowed as soon as the titular "grandma" of their song got out of her rocking chair. The crowd went wild for the diminutive drummer and it seems like that's all the first time entrant of Moldova needed to get a top 10 finish. This won't be the last for little old ladies or Zdob și Zdub at Eurovision! No, no, no. They'll be back. The band itself is actually quite awesome and worth checking out.
