2005: The Hilarious

This is a song about a Cuban woman who arrives in the alps to bring a spicy rhythm to the poor polka'd out Austrians. She falls in love with a yodeler in the song's narrative, and so naturally, this song is a mix of Spanish rhythm and traditional Swiss instruments! That's right, it's a salsa song with yodeling!
Honestly, I love this song. The lead singer has a lovely voice and she carries the tune with enthusiasm. Her flawless use of English and Spanish is especially pleasant. The mix of a Latin rhythm works surprisingly well with the melody and brass instruments. I never would've thought I'd enjoy a song with so much trombone. The yodeling fits well with the story it's telling, injecting humor into the already lighthearted song. Performing first at the semi-final didn't really help this odd tune. Still, it got enough points to avoid last place, and that made me happy.
Semi-Final Score: 30 pts (21st place out of 25)
