MILAN STANKOVIĆ WITH "OVO JE BALKAN" FOR SERBIA

I have an affinity towards Balkan music. While living in Eastern Europe I heard a lot of it because I had quite a few friends from the region. I even met one of my best friends at a Balkan music festival. This song so well represents the fun sound of the Balkans, it was right up my alley.

"This is the Balkans (Trans. from Serbian)" had everything I expect from a Balkan song. It was written by Goran Bregović, a world renowned Serbian/Yugoslavian composer. He's even written for Iggy Pop! It was one of the biggest dark horses of the contest in Oslo. I wish it had done better in the final but it may have been too strong a sound for the European voting audience.
