Yet again, a winner of Eurovision is co-written by an American. Only the second time an American has won the contest, this bubbly pop tune charmed Europe and launched a star.

Plucked from obscurity, Lena became the new winner of Eurovision and became largely famous in her home country and abroad. Her win dispelled the idea that a Big Four nation could never win the contest. The last Big Four win was in 1997 when the United Kingdom won with the British-American band Katrina and the Waves. This would be their first win since 1982, also making it the first since Germany reunified in 1989.

Final Score: 246 pts (1st place out of 25)
