2016: The Honorable

This soft Italian ballad came 2nd in it's National Final, the San Remo Festival. The Italians, certainly loved it a lot, it was just wasn't their first choice.

This isn't the first time a National Final winner rejected the prize to represent their country, in fact it happened in Germany back in 2015. For some reason I feel like this year it was actually the right thing to happen. While the song the Italian public voted for was great (I can't find any videos of it online), I actually fell love with the runner up. It's got a great melody, her voice emotes brilliantly and the use of the Italian language is enchanting.
