Urban Trad are a Belgian group made up of both Flemish and French members, with heavy influence from the Galicia region in north western Spain just above Portugal. The title "Sanomi" has no translation since it's a folk song in a made up language. The tune came in 2nd place losing by only one point and beating Russia's t.A.T.u. at the very height of their career (more on that later). With an accordion, violin, woodwinds, soothing vocals, a mesmerizing performance and even bagpipes, this song made an obvious impact on the European voting population. For portions of the vote that night, it seemed like Belgium was on their way to win it. Sadly, Turkey overtook them by only 2 points much to the surprised of British commentator Terry Wogan. Who claimed earlier in the night "That's the way to lead the Eurovision Song Contest, sing in a language nobody knows!"

Final Score: 165 pts (2nd Place out of 26)
