The Good, The Bad and The Hilarious
2017: An Overview
The contest returns to Ukraine, and they’ve decided to “Celebrate Diversity” by showcasing all they could about their own culture. In what was a very Slavic show, the 2017 competition was somber and reflected the attitude of a changing Europe.
2017: The Winner
A beautiful song, beautifully performed that I was absolutely sure had zero chance of qualifying for the final, let alone cracking the top 10. I was dead wrong.
2017: The Honorable
Joacim Bo Persson was my co-author of the year, as this is his second song to appear in this list and on the Eurovision stage in 2017.
2017: The Hilarious
A Eurovision first, as Romania inexplicably sends a Yodel Rap song!Fusing yodel with rap seems impossible and yet here it is.
2017: The Weird
Strange but cool song, strange but cool performance. Strange men wearing horse heads. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have the weirdest entry of 2018!
2017: The Guilty
North Macedonia was one of the last countries to release their songs, and they came out with a banger.
2017: The Worst
"Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah" she screams. No No No NO, I say! Why did you do this to us Lithuania? Why?
2017: The Best
Upon first listen to “City Lights” it was clear that Belgium had a hit on their hands. This downtempo slice of electropop heaven was definitely the best of 2017.
