The Good, The Bad and The Hilarious
2010: The Winner
Yet again, a winner of Eurovision is co-written by an American. Only the second time an American has won the contest, this bubbly pop tune charmed Europe and launched a star.
2010: The Honorable
I have an affinity towards Balkan music. While living in Eastern Europe I heard a lot of it because I had quite a few friends from the region.
2010: The Hilarious
This would have been The Weird for 2010 if it weren't for a man named Jimmy Jump!
2010: The Weird
The performance that brought the world the "Epic Sax Guy," this entry from Moldova was all sorts of weird.
2010: The Guilty
I resisted this song for a while before I gave in. This song is bi-lingual eurodance perfection.
2010: The Worst
I'm a big fan of the man who wrote this song. When it was announced he'd written another song for Eurovision, I was excited.
2010: The Best
This is so good. Channeling David Bowie this glam rock inspired pop track was leagues above the usual Eurovision song.
2009: An Overview
The show in Russia was the most controversial yet. From the country's anti-LGBT laws, to song disqualifications, and ancient land disputes - the contest in Moscow was the most tense yet.
2009: The Winner
The first time I heard this song my thought was "well, this is probably gonna win."
2009: The Honorable
The French Superstar Patricia Kaas continued her long legacy of superior singing with her goosebumps inducingly good performance in Moscow.
2009: The Hilarious
In my mind, Charlie, Dennis and Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia have hijacked the actual back up dancers.
2009: The Weird
Another one of those so weird it's amazing songs. Gypsy.cz is a Romani hip hop group and performed mostly in English with phrasing in Romano.
2009: The Guilty
I'm a sucker for Britpop Rock and this jam from Switzerland had everything I look for in rock pop music.
2009: The Best
This is the sort of entry I watch Eurovision for. It’s a new sound in a, new to me, language with a strings section playing over an electronic synthpop arrangement.
