The Good, The Bad and The Hilarious
2014: The Hilarious
Their performance sort of reminds me of what watching an early 90s Red Hot Chili Peppers concert would seem like while tripping on acid.
2014: The Weird
What can I say about "We Are Slavic," often just called "Slavic Girls," that can't be said by just watching their risqué performance.
2014: The Guilty
This was an extreme dark horse in the competition. I liked it but I wasn't so sure it would do well, it'd need to have a fantastic performance to get into the final.
2014: The Worst
This is a strings led folk rock tune that got on my nerves. When it comes to country music, for me, I want it melancholy and this was too cheerful.
2014: The Best
The Netherlands continued their new trend of sending high quality, radio ready songs.
2013: An Overview
Sweden last hosted Eurovision in 2000. The country had its fifth win, tying with the United Kingdom for second most wins, both two behind Ireland's seven wins.
2013: The Winner
This entry from Denmark was one of those songs that was a clear winner from first listen. The tin whistle hook, the catchy chorus, driving beat and eye catching performance, even if I wanted any other song to win.
2013: The Honorable
This entry is notable for being the first song denoted as a "remix." Hungary's song is a gentle guitar led indie pop ballad sung completely in Hungarian.
2013: The Hilarious
This is what people watch Eurovision for. BBC Commentator said just after this performance that it "proved that just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should." I disagree, he definitely should have.
2013: The Weird
When two cosmonauts, as Eastern Europe calls them, entered stage in a glare of green light rapping in Montenegrin - the Eurovision weird factor went up ten notches.
2013: The Guilty
Cascada are a globally known German dance-pop group with many massive hit singles including "Everytime We Touch" and "Evacuate The Dancefloor."
2013: The Worst
This song reminds me of a bad rip off of "Unbelievable" by EMF. While that song is an essential piece of nineties nostalgia, the Latvian copy just irked me.
2013: The Best
Many people ask why countries don't send bigger artists, usually citing British acts but they don't realize that often or not countries really do send their best.
2012: An Overview
The most eastern host of the Eurovision Song Contest, the oil rich country of Azerbaijan was ready to show the world who they were.
2012: The Winner
I loved this. I mean LOVED. I knew this had to win. Everything about this is a yes from me. "Euphoria" was a game changer.
